Comparison of STE12 binding energy matrices in three yeast species: S. cerevisiae (Scer), S. mikatae (Smik), and S. bayanus (Sbay). Only the information content (binding affinity was transformed to bits) at every position in a STE12 consensus sequence (TGAAACG) is shown. The height of each bar is the mean information content at each position that was estimated from replicated ChIP-chip experiments, and the error bar is the standard deviation of these estimates. Sequence logo representations of the STE12 energy matrices are available in [Additional file 1: Supplemental Figure S4].
