The level of DNA methylation is indicated on the y axis, whereas the x axis enumerates the samples. Here, all normal samples are not methylated, and the cancer samples are. The point marked with a black square indicates the methylation level of a sample of interest – this is used to assess a methylation profile in the context of a clinical study.
