(b) With the wavelet transform, y HIGH values representing neighboring values of the denoised sample are generated. Note that negative values are generated because positions next to amplifications also show large differences with their neighbors. (c) In this example, negative y HIGH values are set to zero to generate because they do not represent true aberrations. To keep only y HIGH positions with amplifications, we pick a position with the highest absolute log2 ratio value among the consecutive positions with nonzero y HIGH values, and then assign zero to the positions having a different sign in the y HIGH values.
