Metabolites are depicted as nodes while reactions are depicted as arrows. Reversible reactions are indicated by double arrowheads. (b) MetNet after preprocessing where dead-end metabolites and blocked reactions were removed and fully coupled reactions were merged iteratively. This resulted in the removal of the blocked reaction 13 and the merging of the pairs of equivalent reactions (1,2), (8,9) and (11,12)).
