  1. The signal strength (measured by the number of CpGs passing an FDR threshold < 0.05) and the average effect size (Cohen's d = difference in means divided by pooled standard deviation) of the top 100 ranked CpGs for diagnosis and age-settings and for epithelial and blood tissue. Beta-values were used to estimate effect sizes. In the case of age, samples were divided into two groups by the median.
