  1. We compute the max, min, mean and sample standard deviation (SSD) of baselines on the TREC Genomics 2007 and 2006 data sets: (1) the parameter settings of (k1, b) and the different indices effect the baseline results greatly, since there is a disparity between the max and the min values under all the measures; (2) the SSD values are calculated as a sample standard deviation of a discrete random variable; (3) the values in the parentheses are the relative rates of improvement over the means; (4) the SSD also reflects the influence of the different indices and parameter settings of (k1, b).
