Sensitivities are plotted against the false discovery rates calculated from the results obtained by DESeq (blue circles), NOISeq (red squares), and "Combined" method (open diamonds) for the simulated datasets with moderate (A) and large (B) biological variations. The threshold values used (q for DESeq and P NOI for NOISeq) are shown for some data points. For the "Combined" method, data points that showed the highest sensitivy/FDR for each given q-value are plotted, and their threshold combinations, (q, P NOI ), are provided in each panel in the order of higher to lower sensitivities. See Additional file 1 for the entire results of the "Combined" method.
