  1. Smoking history is a continuous variable representing years of smoking history. Gender is a binary variable (0 for male and 1 for female). Cancer type is also a binary variable (0 for squamous cell carcinoma and 1 for adenocarcinoma). Tumor stage is a three level categorical variable (stage I is treated as the reference group).
