The Bayes Error Rate illustration. This figure shows two illustrations of the proposed use of Bayes Error Rate E to define differentially expressing genes based on pdf of expression abundance π. The left example shows an obvious superposition of classes' pdf, thus a gene having this profile does not present evidence of differential expression between classes. The right example shows two pdfs "far apart" and genes with this kind of behaviour should be safely considered differentially expressing between two classes.
