The fluxes were estimated by linear programming using various objective functions as described in the text. Uptake rates of glucose, ammonia, oxygen and accumulation rates of lysine were the decision variables to the optimizer. The fluxes were estimated at different time points (11.5 h, 13.5 h and 15.8 h) during the course of the fermentation. Black box indicates the maximum feasible value; white box indicates the minimum feasible value.
