  1. The number of replicates needed to reach statistical significance depends on the reproducibility of the measures (CV) and the range of confidence one wants to achieve (the real value being within the indicated percentile from the estimator qPCR value). The confidence level α was set to 0.05 (z0.975 = 1.960).
