  1. The number of sequences represents the total of unique genes. The sequences were taken from a subset of the NCBI UniGene data set [23] (retrieved August, 2005). The taxonomic classification was based on the Integrated Taxonomic Information System on-line database [26]. For the group classification, the phylum or division, and the class were used for the taxonomic level.
