Initial conditions were 40 nM for DOO, 250 nM for E and 10^-20 nM for all other species of the detailed model. Initial conditions for the reduced model were chosen consistently (Equations 22 and 28). The insulin concentration is set to 100 nM. This is a typical concentration for insulin stimulation. Assumptions are: k₁ = k₃ = k₇, k_-1 = k_-3 = k_-7, k₅ = k₆ = k_Eand k_-5 = k_-6 = k_-E.
