Schematic representation of a breakpoint and its flanking sequences. The original breakpoint (before refinement) lies between synteny blocks A r and B r on genome G r , its sequence is called S r . The breakpoint sequence after refinement, is represented in red. The flanking sequences (showed in green) are defined as the sequences of sequence Sr that are not part of the breakpoint region. We consider in this analysis breakpoints whose sequence (in red) spans more than 10 Kb, and for which at least one flanking sequence spans more than 10 Kb.
