In the case of trees displaying contradictions, such as T 1 and T 2 on the relative position of E, it can be preferable to propose a non-plenary supertree, such as ST 2 . In this way, more information on the evolutionary relationships among the remaining species can be obtained. ST1 is inferred by MRP, ST2 by PhySIC_IST. PhySIC produces a star tree on this example.
