The network topology is formed by the connection matrices of the transcription factors (TFs) such as YY1 and MyoD to their target genes as shown in (a). The main objective of the NCA approach is to estimate the transcription factors' activities (TFAs) and their target genes via the estimated connection matrices as shown in (b).
