Browsing ontologies in RDFScape. This figure shows the contextual-menu mechanism for the interactive expansion of ontologies. The current selection highlighted in the menu will result in the addition of the statement:

“re:Phosphorilation_of_p53_at_ser_15_by_ATM_kinaseStep bp:PATHWAY-STEP re:kinase_activity_of_phospho_ATM_Ser__1981___nucleoplasm_1”.

Browsing ontologies at this level of details is not intuitive. Later in this paper it will be shown how, through reasoning, ontologies can be transformed to provide information easy to understand by the user.
