Simulation results showing how vesicle release is sensitive to an increase of the parameter b, from 0.25 (reference case, see Figure 2) to 0.4, in the case of step-like Ca2+ uncaging. See legend of Figure 2 for details. It can be observed a lower and more uniform release rate, when compared to the reference case (Figure 2, right side).
