Subjects whose titer scores and symptom scores agree, i.e., those who are either infected and symptomatic or uninfected and asymptomatic, are used for training the predictors. We assign 5 state labels to these subjects, as shown in (c), that correspond to baseline reference (state 1), UnInf (state 2), pre-accute Inf (state 3), acute Inf (state 4), and post-acute Inf (state 5). The onset and offset time of detectable titration are used to set the boundaries between class 3 and 4 and class 4 and 5 respectively (see Additional file 1)
