Enconding. Prefixes are subjected to a dual encoding. Initially, the nucleotides in a prefix are encoded with a numerical value from 0 to 4 (i.e., A→0, C→1, G→2, T→3, N→4). Then, these numerical representations are encoded using base-10. Finally, sorting is performed for clustering. In the figure, prefixes of length k=8 are represented.
