In this example, there is a larger steady-state network flow between the node pair (a, b) than the node pair (a, d) because the node pair (a, b) has higher pairwise node similarity and as the nodes have similar interacting nodes in the respective networks. In contrast, although the node pair (a, d) has positive pairwise node similarity, the neighboring nodes in the respective networks are not similar, which leads to a smaller steady-state network flow between the nodes (a, d) compared to the flow between (a, b)
