  1. Four of the five observed variants are in the version of the PhiX genome provided by Illumina on its iGenomes website (https://support.illumina.com/sequencing/sequencing_software/igenome.html; retrieved Nov. 2017), and it lists an additional variant at position 2793 that was not observed in any sequencing run. Nevertheless, the iGenomes version is considered current by Illumina (personal communication, Nov. 2017)
