(d) Using more strobes increases the variation of advance lengths, but decreases the size of the subreads. AN50 is maximized at k = 3,4. All simulations were performed on the first 10Mbp of chr1 (HuRef) using L = 900bp, c = 20×, A = 9kbp. SA based optimal (α, β) values were similar, and produced advance length distributions skewed towards longer advances. (See Additional File 3 for exact (α, β) values.)
