Simulation of loss events Three different loss events were simulated in the prophage tape measure gene of A2_Kyoto. The graphs of the function H(c|[ p , p +33), c|[ i , i +33)) exhibit a clear minimum around the corresponding values of p, at position 100, 232 and 364. Position 100 corresponds to a loss at the position of the most recent duplication. When the loss event is far from the position of the most recent duplication, the curve is markedly sharper near the minimum.
