Concepts become more general towards the top of the graph and thus have larger sets of variables. The simulated causal variants X7 and X10 were mapped to a common concept (GO:0001318) and then sibling concepts (GO:0001318 and GO:0001319). Non-causal variants were randomly distributed across the graph.
