Two cases of domain mapping. An instance of a SCOP domain (s*, * = l, m, n) on its member sequence is represented by a white rectangle while that of a Pfam domain (f*, * = i, j) is represented by a black rectangle. (A) A Pfam domain and a SCOP domain overlap at a very small portion of their shared member sequence. This case is considered a partial agreement between the two types of domain definitions, and the mapping score is assigned as 0.5. (B) A Pfam domain overlaps with two SCOP domains over the full lengths of the two SCOP domains, respectively. In this case, we consider the Pfam domain maps to both SCOP domains. Therefore, a score of 1 is assigned to each mapping.
