Four scenarios for miRNA involvement in host-virus interactions. (1) Viral miRNAs inhibit the expression of viral mRNAs. (2) Host miRNAs inhibit the expression of viral mRNAs. (3) Viral miRNAs inhibit the expression of host mRNAs. (4) Host miRNAs inhibit the expression of host mRNAs.
