The refinement procedure. During the refinement procedure each line can be moved to left or right (for vertical lines) and up or down (for horizontal lines) to find the best location separating the spots. In this image, v i is the sub-line before using the refinement procedure and v r is the sub-line after adjusting it during refinement procedure.
