Good versus bad probes for different combinations of individual and multiple specificity criteria. Each light blue dot represents a combination of thresholds for the multiple criteria (identity, M0, M1, M2, and M3). The Pareto optimal front, defined as the scattered points with the smallest number of bad probes for a specified number of good probes, is shown in dark blue. The scattered points corresponding to strict thresholds for each individual criterion are close to the Pareto optimal front, but quickly move away from it as the thresholds are relaxed.
