Averages are taken over 5000 realizations of random stoichiometric matrices at each value of N except in the N = 12 case where we analyzed 500 realizations. LRS outperforms BP up to sizes N ~12 where the running time of LRS explodes exponentially while BP maintains a modest almost-linear behavior.
