Parameter variation: membrane receptor activity. Simulation results showing how postsynaptic membrane receptor activity following neurotransmitter release is sensitive to an increase of the parameter r d from 900 (reference case, see Figure 4) to 9000. This coefficient represents the rate of desensitization. See legend of Figure 4 for details. In this case, the variation of one order of magnitude of this coefficient is relevant: the time course of D is faster and this impact on the peak capability of O1 (compare the rightmost pictures of this figure and Figure 4).
