The tree was rooted by root-to-tip regression analysis, meaning that the branch length is most correlated with isolation date under the assumption of a strict molecular clock (correlation = 0.95). Three evolutionary events indicated with Event I, II, and III (with 100% bootstrap support, data not shown) were examined for adaptive evolution. The African and Asian lineages are color shaded.
