Fig. 7

Panels a and b: Comparison of the numbers of IPPs in S phase at t1 (\(2\overline {IPP}_{S}(t_{1})\) (24), solid line) with their estimation from double BrdU+EdU+ labeled cells at t2 (\(\overline {IPN}_{S}^{\star }(t_{2})\) (34), dash lines). We use the same durations as those of Table 3 for the phases of the IPN cell cycle and all phases except S phase of the IPP cell cycle. In panel a, \(T^{IPP}_{S}=T^{IPN}_{S}=2.8\)h, while, in panel b, \(T^{IPP}_{S}=6.4\)h and \(T^{IPN}_{S}=2.8\)h. The input flux FAP(t) is the same as Case (3) of Table 4. γ(t)=cte (0, 0.5 or 1). The ratio ρ(t) between the estimated and the true value (Eq. (25) is also plotted on each panel, according to the scale ticked on the right axis, alongside the theoretical value \(T^{IPN}_{S}/T^{IPP}_{S}\) (in black). Panels c and d: Sensitivity of the protocol to the delay and S phase duration. The two panels display the ratio ρ(t2t1) (Eq. (25)) as a function of t2t1 for t1=E14 and γ(t)=0.5=cte
