The distributions of pairwise skewness. For every pair from the pooled samples of the five rat toxicogenomics experiments, the skewness of log ratios is computed. Orange: skewness distribution of raw counts; blue: skewness distribution of normalized counts. The divergence between them is measured by the mean absolute deviations index of skewness (MADSI). The linear methods do not change the skewness too much; among them, MUREN-sp has the minimum value of MADSI. However, the nonlinear methods like Q and especially RUV tend to alter the skewness boldly
